OIT’s Wayne Fields Recognized as NACCU 2022 New Professional Award Recipient

Wayne Fields, assistant director, Student Affairs IT, received the NACCU 2022 New Professional Award for his work in bringing a new credentialing system to UCI. The New Professional Award recognizes an individual with five or fewer years in the campus identification and transaction system profession who has made significant contributions to their institution.

The OneCard program, which Wayne began advocating for back in 2017, enhances the student experience by allowing students to use a singular card or mobile device to access their residences, laundry, campus recreation, library loans, meal plans, retail outlets, shuttle bus services, athletic or arts events, as well as many other services offered both on and off campus.

Beginning fall 2022, UCI students will be able to begin using mobile credentials, via Leaf Identity’s secure, open and interoperable credential. In the following months, OIT will work with campus partners to integrate additional services to the program, alleviating the need for multiple cards or devices for campus access.

OIT would like to congratulate Wayne for this award, and for his tireless work in bringing this project to fruition at UCI.
