Microsoft Announces Changes to M365 Storage

by | Aug 7, 2023 | Home Page News, News

On August 1, 2023 Microsoft announced that it will change its storage model for its cloud productivity suite Microsoft 365 (M365). The majority of these changes will occur when the University of California systemwide contract with Microsoft expires in 2028.

At this time we are using less than half of our future storage allotment. In order to ensure that we do not overrun that allotment, OIT expects to roll out a tiered storage model well in advance of these changes, similar to its current efforts with Google Workspace.

We expect more detail from Microsoft and UCOP in the weeks ahead and will continue to update the campus community on our approach.
