Webfiles Retirement Coming Soon

by | Aug 8, 2023 | Home Page News, News

On June 30, 2021 Webfiles ceased to be supported by the vendor. At that time, OIT announced that it would be retiring the service. After two years without security patches, this service now poses a security and privacy risk to both your data and the organization. OIT will shut down the Webfiles service on Dec 31, 2023 January 3, 2024. We recommend you move any data you wish to keep to secure, campus-approved collaboration alternatives before then. We regret that we are unable to provide assisted migrations at this time.

Alternatives

  • Google Drive – 20 GB available by default for faculty and staff. Changes to the service are underway; please see the Google Workspace Storage Changes project website for more information. Google Drive is suitable for P1 and P2 level data protection.

If you have any questions, please contact the OIT help desk at oit@uci.edu or refer to our Webfiles knowledgebase article for more information. Thank you for your understanding.
