Campuswide Data-Literacy Initiatives Launch

June 26, 2024

UCI has officially launched Compass MAPSS and DataGPS, pivotal initiatives aimed at fostering a campus-wide data culture. Faculty and staff are highly encouraged to join their colleagues on the journey toward a data-literate campus that supports student success through informed decision-making.

How to Get Started:

Step 1: Experience the MAPSS Interactive Tutorial. This will give a comprehensive tutorial on the Compass initiative–what has been accomplished, the vision and goals for this project.

Step 2: Get started with the MAPSS certificate program! This program is designed for all staff and faculty–technical and nontechnical alike–with the goal of increasing data and digital literacy skills.

Step 3: Explore DataGPS, the community of practice forum. This forum allows for dynamic, cross-departmental sharing of best practices, tips and tricks, and how units on campus are leveraging data. It will also connect colleagues with a shared goal to build a data culture that benefits the entire UCI community.

UCI faculty and staff can join in by exploring these resources on the Compass Community of Practice website.

For more information or to schedule a demonstration of all of the UCI Compass tools and initiatives, contact Astrud Reed, UCI Compass Community of Practice Manager at compasscop@uci.edu.
