Job Description
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Network and Telecom Services, the Manager, Network Services provides leadership, direction, and oversight to enterprise wired and wireless systems, network and telecommunications infrastructure and DNS services. This position will lead a team of network engineers, collaborating closely with service customers and stakeholders across campus and UCI Health, including but not limited to administration, IT security, academic units, public safety, clinicians, and research labs. This position: • Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet goals. • Provides direction to staff according to established policies and management guidance and provides priority setting and workflow analysis. • Administers policies and recommends changes to department policies and practices that directly affect subordinate staff. • Identifies risks and responds accordingly for the design, development, delivery, security, and ongoing operations of UCI’s network services. • Develops the service and technology roadmap for the network ecosystem, incorporating emerging technology trends and industry practices. • Prepares and manages fiscally sound multi-year operating budgets and network asset lifecycle budgets. • Responsible for ensuring compliance with statutes, University policy and industry practice (e.g., HIPAA, PCI, CJIS, NIST 800-171, IS-3) are met. • Provides thought leadership on campus-wide infrastructure projects, explores, and implements automation opportunities. • Works closely with UCI Health IT to ensure optimal support for hybrid academic and clinical buildings and sites. • Drives a culture of continuous improvement across multiple dimensions, including workforce talent management, team operations, and performance. • Ensures the timely recovery of network services when interrupted, leading incident command of outages, providing regular leadership updates, and ensuring 24x7x365 on-call escalation and onsite response within one hour.
